First WLS Update!

HW (Heaviest Weight): 511 lbs SW (Surgery Weight): 466 lbs CW (Current Weight): 422 lbs

The CW was recorded Wednesday at the doctor’s office. We’ll consider that official.

Unofficially, I weigh 411 pounds according to my scale. That’s 100 pounds less than my heaviest weight, recorded on 19/04/2017. Its also 55 pounds less than what I weighed at surgery, back on 17/04/2018.

More than half of my loss in just 53 days. Averages to almost a pound a day. Wild.

Once I’m below 400 pounds I’m likely to fixate less on my actual weight and more on two things: clothing size and mobility.

Let’s start with the latter. Even at my heaviest I moved around decently. I’d be inundated with stereotypes about fat people on scooters at Walmart, but I’d never needed one. I could get around Manhattan in foot, slowly but surely.

There are plenty of things I couldn’t do, like touch my toes, or hold myself up in a lunge while doing yoga. Yes, I used to do yoga and I plan on starting again soon.

I’m going to start keeping track of how much better I’m getting at these things. How flexible I am. How long I can walk without getting winded (30 minutes earlier tonight and no issues!). How many squats I can do.

Anyone know of a good iOS app that lets you record these things and see changes over time? Or am I going to have to make my own? 😛

I’m already feeling improvements in moving around, and my clothes fit better. A few months ago I was only wearing 5X and 6X shirts. Those are US sizes, representing how many extras come before the Large. Most of you could wear my larger shirts like dresses, and fit inside one of my trouser legs.

Now, these shirts look big on me. 4X seems to be the sweet spot right now. 3X is almost doable. In fact, it’s been a few weeks. Gimme a minute.

Loose on top, right around the gut. Better, but not quite there yet. I’ll include some photos.

I have a pile of 3X and 2X shirts back from when I weighed between 300 and 400 pounds. I can’t wait to start wearing them again. A lot of them are clever and/or funny.

I might need to get some new shorts. Not because summer is coming, but because I almost always wear shorts. So long as the temperature is above 45º F I’m not putting on long pants.

I’ve rambled far too long. Subsequent posts should be shorter and more frequent. I want to talk about going to the gym, a thing I’m doing now, and show off cool shirts.

Later, folks! Thanks for reading!
